Melbourne Nordic is built around the activities of its members, who range from novice skiers to elite racers.

Why not come along and see what our Club is doing by dropping in to a meeting, have a chat with some members and find out how you can:-

Lessons
The Club organises free group lessons on several weekend trips. This year, we are also planning to organise discounted lessons at Lake Mountain. As well, experienced members are always happy to pass on advice and tips on an informal basis.

Club Weekend Trips
The Club organises 5 weekend trips, with accommodation, throughout the ski season. These weekends comprise free group lessons, and day trips for a range of skill levels. Accommodation is allocated on a first come, first served basis, so book early!

One of the Club's most popular activities is an instructional and social week-end at Howman's Gap near Falls Creek. As well as free group lessons, many of our better skiers give valuable instruction from beginners to advanced techniques.

Day Touring
We have a number of day tours, throughout the ski season, for a range of skill levels. Some members are keen to be first on the snow in June, and Spring touring in September is a particular delight.

Other Ski Activities
Members participate in a range of other activities such as snow camping, ski orienteering and rogaining. Some members are involved in ski patrolling, the nordic rescue service, and conserving the alpine national parks and wilderness environments.

Racing
The Club is represented at the Victorian Championships, as well as many of the citizen races which are run throughout Victoria and New South Wales.

Citizen races are open to all levels of ability with the emphasis on participation.

At the end of August, many members take part in the Kangaroo Hoppet and associated races held at Falls Creek. Other members help out at Melbourne Nordic's drink station and give encouragement to the racers.

The Club helps run the Lake Mountain Mini-Series, a series of 3 race days for juniors. These activities are very popular, with their close proximity to Melbourne, approximately one and a half hours drive.

Club Meetings
Club meetings are held monthly from May to October. We usually have a speaker on skiing or a related topic. Why not drop in and have a chat about upcoming trips.

Calendar
A calendar of Club events is published at the start of the season, giving dates and coordinators for activities. The calendar is updated throughout the ski season, as new trips are organised.

Booking Details
Please read the notes on the Booking Details page before booking on a trip.

Gear List
Ask at Club Meetings, for advice on what gear you need to take.

To join our Club, complete a Membership Application Form and send it in, or drop into a meeting and have a chat with some members.

Non-Members
Trips are open to members and non-members. We invite non-members to try one of our ski weekends or ski trips before joining the club.

The Club newsletter, Crosswords, is published monthly throughout the ski season. It includes the events calendar and post-trip reports.

Favourite Haunts of Members
If you are in the vicinity, make an effort to be at these places at the times shown so you can meet fellow members, on, or travelling to and from the snow.

Wear a club T-shirt or badge so other members can identify and make contact with you. There is of course no guarantee that a member will be present on any given occasion.
